WORDS TO THE STOREKEEPERS OR PHARMACIST

Dear friend:
After graduating, you may work for a pharmacy, or for a pharmaceutical company.... So what do you know about your job in the future?
If you work for a pharmacy, people will probably ask you about which medicines to buy and when or how to use them. You are in the position to have an important effect on knowledge and health of people.
As you know, people sometimes don't much  pay attention to their health, so they don't spend time going to for medical every year. When they have any problem with their health, some people often use home remedies not only for common illnesses but also for serious illnesses. On the contrary, other people spend too much their money for medicine when it is not necessary or for vitamin tonic ineffectively. They sometimes use the best medicine in the wrong way and they cause some danger. You can help them understand clearly that their health is the most important thing and help them spend thier money more wisely. To be helpful, medicine must be used correctly -tell them so.

For example:
If people come and ask for cough syrup for diarrhea, vitamin B12 or liver extract to treat simple anemia such as people after surgery or women after child birth...., for Penicillin to treat sprain or ache, for Tetracycline when they have a cold, explain to them that these medicines are not necessary and may do more harm than good. Discuss with them what to do instead.

If someone wants to buy a vitamin tonic, encourage him to buy eggs, fruits or vegetables instead. Help him understand these have more vitamin than any vitamin tonic. If people ask for an injection when medicines by mouth can work well, tell them that medicine by mouth is usually better and safer than injected medicine.

Above all,  try to give the patients the most useful advice when they come and ask for help. Stock your store with the important medicines for common illnesses in your area. Try to stock low cost generic products, sell only useful medicines. Never sell people medicines that are expired, damaged or useless. Your store will become a place where people can learn about caring for their health. If you help people use medicines intelligently, you will provide an outstanding service to your community.
                                                                                              GOOD LUCK!
